PA PORTLAND — Borough Council approves 2025 audit, raises staff pay. Portland Borough Council unanimously accepted the 2025 draft audit and authorized Council President Stephanie Steele to sign and advertise the management letter, which notes the borough's pledge of sewer revenues as Penn Vest collateral. The council also approved pay increases for three municipal employees: Secretary Lori Sliker from $20 to $21 per hour; billing clerk Diann Eden from $17 to $18 per hour; and maintenance worker Fred Farleigh from $15 to $16 per hour.
The council hired Brian Labar as an additional streets and maintenance worker at $17 per hour, up to 15 hours weekly, and approved combined payments of $27,000 to the Fire Tax Account and LST Fund for fire-truck and insurance obligations.
